Dr. Marcos Cepeda

Dr. Marcos Cepeda, Head of the Urology Department at Río Hortega University Hospital (HURH), was born in 1979 in Valladolid, Spain. He completed his medical studies at the University of Valladolid (UVA) in 2003, where he obtained his MD. He finished his residency in Urology at HURH in 2009 and obtained his PhD by the UVA in 2011. His career has been focused on Endourology, Laparoscopy and Robot-Assisted Surgery since he became a Senior Urologist in 2009. He collaborates with the UVA Medical School Department of Surgery since 2013, and since 2018 he is Professor of Urology at the same institution. In 2013, he took the European Board of Urology examination. He is author and co-author of over 30 chapters of textbooks, 40 publications, 400 communications and collaborates with different research projects. He has participated as a lecturer in numerous national and international courses, also performing live surgery. He runs the education and fellowship program on Endourology, Laparoscopy and Robot-Assisted Surgery of his Department. He belongs to the working groups on Education/Fellowship and PCNL of the EAU Endourology section. So far, he has been awarded 22 prizes and 3 grants for his contributions to Endourology and Laparoscopy.
