Dr. Amelia Pietropaolo

Following her passion for endourology, after initial training experience in the Italian urological training, she moved to the UK with the determination of improving her knowledges and skills in Urolithiasis and Endourology.
After becoming specialist in Urology and achieving the FEBU diploma, she decided to pursuit the interest in stones, exploring new work opportunities. She therefore undertook a 2 years fellowship in endourology under Prof Somani guidance. This allowed her to join conferences of global importance and to have the honour to present their work in front of an international scientific audience.
With the team , she published more than 130 papers on the topic.
Over the years, she became the chair person of the endourology and urolithiasis working party of the Young Academic Urologist group in 2020, young section of EAU.
She is currently Currently part of editorial board of 2 journals, associate editor for CEJU, and reviewer for 13 journals.
She is committed in teaching to University of Southampton medical students and junior doctors. In the last 3 years, she has become part of the European School of Urology (ESU) teaching endourological surgical skills to junior urologists and giving courses worldwide.
She is Board member of EAU endourology, PETRA group and IAU.

She has been appointed in January 2023 as consultant Urological surgeon at the University Hospital of Southampton.
She takes parts to scientific international and national meetings, clinical research, local audit and global trials. She is actually dedicated full time to clinical activity and also working as a principal investigator in 2 studies on urolithiasis, enrolling and following the patients from the counselling to the post operative follow up.
